Lopez and his family and close friends. The things that George Lopez and his family, Wife Angie and two kids Max and Carmen, are situations that can be seen as serious to others, but the twist with the show is they sprinkle comedy in the show to keep the audience amused. I think what made this show stand out was the fact that it starred a latin family.
Most popular family shows star either caucasian or african american families, so to see a Latin household be represented on TV was very interesting and I believe gave the show its uniqueness, paving a road for Latin shows in the future besides tele -novas , such as Jane the Virgin.
I used to watch this show as a kid and loved to watch it because the different scenarios that they family would go through were realistic situations, and at the end of every episode, you always realize and learn something new.
Also, Tv has a way of showing us a different outlook or creating a new perception that goes beyond the norms of what society is used to seeing. Although, these shows fall in the same genre, but all took place during different eras. The point I am making here is these shows have different themes based on their era, but yet their themes are still relatable and influential enough to have been as successful as they were.
The show ran for four years and had five seasons. Tisha Campbell played his wife which I believe was a smart casting choice because everyone knows her capability as an actress for her role as Gina on the famous sitcom Martin, hence the reason this particular role really suited her also because she brought great humor to the show herself.
It kind of threw things off and added risk. In addition I think this show had a good run for the time it lasted. Which to me shows that it still has fair value and purpose. The show ran for six seasons, but still lives on with us today as many networks such as Nick Nite, Freeform, BET, etc. Will, a streetwise and less fortunate young man from Philly is sent to live with his uncle and aunt in Bel-air, along with his three cousins Ashley, Carlton, and Hillary.
As conflicts arises through out the show we see it becomes clear that these conflicts are born out of the social class differences between Will and his family.
This is where the comedy then derives from because now we are seeing two different worlds collide and how they are managing such changes and interactions under one household.
Watching Will go live with his family who was apart of a higher social class almost made me feel like I was watching someone like myself go live with family members who lived a different lifestyle then I.
The movie follows the same plot as the series, but just subtracts the comical side of things and emphasizes what it is like for an African-American man to now actually have to grow up, under new house rules, with a new lifestyle, and new surroundings.
Boy Meets World had a seven year run along with seven seasons. The show starred Ben Savage as Corey Matthews, a middle child with a younger sister and older brother. The show basically takes you through the life of Corey Matthews alongside his good friend Shawn Hunter, testing their theories of life and enduring the trials that come along during their adolescence.
